Maryland posts first-quarter 2016 data on fatal overdoses. Health Secretary urges users of drugs to seek treatment: ‘No illicit drug is safe.’
 
 
Baltimore, MD (June 29, 2016) – The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has posted to its website the first-quarter data report for 2016 of fatal overdoses. From January to March, Maryland saw 383 deaths related to overdose. The report is posted at http://goo.gl/XogGSc.

Maryland Health Care Commission awards fourth round of telehealth grants. Funding will enable 2 provider organizations to show impact of technology on care delivery.
 
Baltimore, Md. (June 17, 2016) – The Maryland Health Care Commission announced its awarding of two telehealth grants, totaling more than $115,000, to demonstrate the impact of using telehealth technology to support value-based care delivery in primary care.

Worcester County Health Department Confirms Rabid Cat in West Ocean City
 
 
Snow Hill, Md. - Worcester County Health Department has confirmed that a cat tested positive for rabies this week. The cat was found at Ocean Village at Old Bridge, a townhome community off Route 707 (Old Bridge Rd) in West Ocean City. The cat was being fed as part of a colony of cats at the property and is described as a small white female with orange and tabby patches.
