The Worcester County Health Department and the Town of Berlin Parks Commission Partner to Promote Just Walk Berlin PDF Print E-mail

 Snow Hill, Md. – Fall in to fitness this November and participate in the inaugural Just Walk Berlin event to be held on Saturday, November 17 at Stephen Decatur Park, Rt. 113 and Tripoli Street, Berlin.  


This is a FREE event is co-sponsored by the Worcester County Health Department and the town of Berlin Parks Commission.   The first 50 participants will receive a free Just Walk step counter. 



This is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while getting some physical activity with friends, family, and other community residents. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the 1 mile fun walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.  The health department will be available to register participants for the Just Walk program and will provide free body composition testing, diabetes prevention information, and Quit Smoking Kits.  



 Just Walk is a free, self-directed, self-reported, incentive-based physical activity program that rewards participants for mileage of physical activity accumulated.  Participants can earn a sweatshirt, t-shirt, water bottle, and more.

Maryland urges residents to avoid use of synthetic marijuana, other illcit drugs. Lab-manufactured products often debilitate or kill, are sold as harmless household items.
Baltimore, MD (November 24, 2015) – The State of Maryland is urging residents to not use manufactured products known as synthetic cannabinoids – often called synthetic marijuana or the street names “Spice” and “K2” – or other illicit drugs. The substances have factored into a number of often-tragic incidents across the state.
Commission shares recommendation for Wash. Adventist Hospital relocation. The panel will consider proposal for $336 million project at its Dec. 17 meeting.
Baltimore, MD (November 19, 2015) – The Maryland Health Care Commission released a Recommended Decision in the matter of the proposed relocation of Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH),  a hospital owned and operated by Gaithersburg-based Adventist HealthCare (AHC).  WAH is currently located in Takoma Park (Montgomery County). The proposed site is in the White Oak area of Silver Spring at 12100 Plum Orchard Drive. The site is adjacent to US RT 29 and the ICC MD 200 and is part of the White Oak Science Gateway Master Plan.
State observes “Get Smart about Antibiotics” Week Nov. 16 through 22. Antibiotic resistance is worsened through misuse, overuse of prescriptions.
Baltimore, MD (November 16, 2015) – This week, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene joins the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as many national and international partners, to observe the eighth annual “Get Smart About Antibiotics Week,” a weeklong initiative to raise awareness of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic prescribing and use.
