2020 Go Red for Women's Heart Health

Physical activity of any form is one of the best ways to improve heart health. In 2020, public and private health agencies across the Lower Eastern Shore are encouraging women to Get Pumped about their heart health and to learn more about how exercise, as well as healthy eating, contributes to preventing heart disease.  

The Tri-County region will Go Red for Women’s Heart Health again this January with a free kick-off in Worcester County. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m., January 31, at the Worcester Technical High School, 6290 Worcester Hwy, Newark, MD. Learn about heart health with interactive presentations including physical activity, heart-healthy cooking demonstration, and heart disease prevention 101. Light refreshments, including a smoothie bar, will be offered.

Worcester Health Joins National "One Billion Steps" Campaign

Snow Hill, MD – This spring, the Worcester County Health Department is inviting all residents to join our free Just Walk Program as we take part in the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) One Billion Steps Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to get people outside and walking, with teams working together across the country collectively to log a billion steps by the end of National Public Health Week (April 6-12, 2020). Worcester Health is encouraging residents to sign up for Just Walk at no matter your fitness level and self-report your walking mileage.
