The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Agency Budget Specialist I

The main purpose of this full-time position will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of budgets by reviewing program requests for format, fund limitations and compliance with requirements and timelines. This position will also monitor and approve expenditures by analyzing budgetary priorities and constraints. Contractual Coordinator Special Programs I, HS

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to reduce recidivism rates at the detention center, local hospital, impatient facilities and other similar higher levels of care with a population focus on individuals and/or households with substance use disorders and or mental health disorders. This position will work with local law enforcement, emergency department staff, detention center staff and other community partner staff regularly. The case manager will engage individuals/households with a person-centered approach with the goal of engaging the individuals in behavioral health treatment, resource assistance, recovery services, and health insurance as appropriate. This position will seek to reduce barriers for clientele by identifying obstacles and creating a vision for change. This position does include home visiting, community based services and may require some evening hours. Contractual Coordinator Special Programs I, HS

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position  will be to provide community based case management to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position will assist eligible individuals and their families in gaining access to resources in their community, planning for their future, education on transition services and waivers that could be available for them, as well as accessing needed services and supports. This position will also work with individuals and their identified team members to create a person-centered plan. This position will work with the DDA regional office, local providers, staff and/or other community partners regularly. In addition, this position will include home visiting, community based services and may require occasional evening and/or weekend hours. Contractual Coordinator Special Programs II, DD

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to provide community based case management to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position will assist eligible individuals and their families in gaining access to resources in their community, planning for their future, education on transition services and waivers that could be available to them as well as accessing needed services and supports. This position will also identify intervention needs of children/adolescents and adults on the caseload, perform assessments, provide recommendations and connect individuals with appropriate resources. This position will work with local providers, staff and or other community partners regularly. In addition, this position does include home visiting, community based services and may require some weekend and/or evening hours. Contractual Fiscal Accounts Clerk I 

The Fiscal Accounts Clerk will require a high level of confidentiality and is responsible for maintaining positive interactions with patients and families on the phone, in person and through other means of communication before, during and after the client visit. The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to assure accurate, timely, and complete client data collections and will follow all clerical policies and procedures. Environmental Health Specialist Trainee 

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to perform the duties of an Environmental Health Specialist Trainee in the area of community sanitation under the supervision of the Environmental Health Specialist Supervisor. Mental Health Professional Counselor

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide individual, group, and family counseling and coordinate therapies, services, and referrals through the mental health school based program in order to improve the functioning of the individual served. This position will provide diagnosis for clientele with complex behavioral health disorders as defined by established treatment criteria. The selected applicant will work with a robust psychiatric treatment team within the Behavioral Health Unit and collaborate with the Board of Education. This position does include home visiting and may require some evening and/or weekend hours to meet the needs of the clientele served.  Social Worker I, Health Services

Social Worker I, Health Services is a professional clinical social work at the intermediate level providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health setting.  The work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.  The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.  Work is performed in hospitals, residential facilities, clinics or local health units.

 

Social Worker II, Health Services

Social Worker II, Health Services is the full performance level of professional clinical social work providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health care setting. The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.  Work is performed in hospitals, residential facilities, clinics or local health units.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE II 

A Community Health Nurse II is the full performance level of direct nursing care to patients in various community settings and local health department clinics.  Employees in this classification do not supervise other nursing staff but may supervise support staff.
