Worcester County Health Department


The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Merit Accountant II

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to assist and support the Accountant Supervisor with the day-to-day operations of the Worcester County Health Department. This position will require an advanced level of examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles in order to maintain health department accounting systems and prepare financial reports/statements. This position will also include the preparation and management of budgets, management of the agency's corporate purchasing card program and management of inventory. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Merit Office Secretary II

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide secretarial support for the Community Health Adult Services program within the Nursing Department. The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, considerable organizing and filing of both electronic and paper documents, scheduling, and drafting correspondence, compiling and summarizing data into concise form, client assistance with Maryland Access Point intake services, program reporting, preparation of technical and confidential reports, as well as taking and typing meeting minutes. Contractual Office Services Clerk

The main purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the Behavioral Health programs staff. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and is responsible for maintaining positive interactions with patients and families on the phone, in person and through other means of communication before, during and after the client visits. In addition, this position is responsible for assuring accurate, timely, and complete client data collection. This position will require some evening and or weekend availability. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Contractual Fiscal Accounts Clerk I

The Fiscal Accounts Clerk will require a high level of confidentiality and is responsible for maintaining positive interactions with patients and families on the phone, in person and through other means of communication before, during and after the client visit. The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to assure accurate, timely, and complete client data collections and will follow all clerical policies and procedures. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Merit Administrative Officer III

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to manage the Office of the Health Officer by staffing, coordinating work flow, tracking projects, establishing work plans and creating timelines for all programs operated by the Health Department and by organizing an efficient operations system. This position will participate in the strategic planning process to create plans and follow up with quarterly reports. In addition, this position will assist the Health Officer and the Director of Administration with monitoring and maintaining the Core Funding budget of the health department, conducting program services, including the development and execution of administrative policies and procedures for programs, staff and health department operations. This position may require some weekend and/or evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Merit Coordinator Special Programs HS II, DD

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide community based case management to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position will assist eligible individuals and their families in gaining access to resources in their community, planning for their future, education on transition services and waivers that could be available to them as well as accessing needed services and supports. This position will also identify intervention needs of children/adolescents and adults on the caseload, perform assessments, provide recommendations and connect individuals with appropriate resources. This position will work with local providers, staff and or other community partners regularly. In addition, this position does include home visiting, community based services and may require some weekend and/or evening hours. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Part-Time Contractual Coordinator Special Programs I, HS

The main purpose of this part-time position will be to provide community based case management. This position will identify intervention needs of children/adolescents and adults on the caseload. In addition, this position will perform assessments, provide recommendations and connect individuals with appropriate resources in order to obtain a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional and/or physical adjustment. The selected applicant must be able to work and travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.

Director for Planning, Quality and Core Services Program Administrator IV, Health Services

The main purpose of this position is to provide management and direction of the Planning and Quality Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, department wide development of quality improvement tracking, Community Health Assessment (CHA), Community Health Improvement Planning (CHIP), oversight of the Local Management Board (LMB) and Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA), ongoing Public Health Accreditation (PHAB) activities, data management and ongoing Joint Commission (JC) activities. This position serves as the lead for agency activities such as Risk Management, Grant Writing, Management Information, Strategic Plan Development and monitoring, conference planning and research coordination.

Social Worker I, Health Services is a professional clinical social work at the intermediate level providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health setting.  The work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.  The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.  Work is performed in hospitals, residential facilities, clinics or local health units.

A Community Health Nurse II is the full performance level of direct nursing care to patients in various community settings and local health department clinics.  Employees in this classification do not supervise other nursing staff but may supervise support staff.
