What is Medically Managed Treatment?

(Previously known as MAT)

Medication Managed Treatment (MMT) is an evidence based program which uses a combination of counseling and medicine to treat substance use disorders (SUD). MMT is used for the treatment of addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers, as well as alcohol. MMT works by supporting the brain in re-regulating after prolonged substance use challenges.

Medically:

The use of medications such as Suboxone, Sublocade, Brixadi, Naltrexone (Vivitrol), Disulfiram (Antabuse) & Methadone (dispensed onsite through a partnership with the Wicomico County Health Department).

Managed:

Medication assists by curbing cravings, while allowing focus on other non-pharmacologic treatments.

Treatment:

Substance Use Disorder counseling and other behavioral health therapies in conjunction with medication to provide a holistic approach.

How Can We Help?

A dedicated team of prescribers, nurses, counselors, peer support specialists, office and case management staff (including linkage to transportation supports), will assist individuals involved in treatment. The program is clinically driven and tailored to meet individual needs.
