Close Contact and COVID-19 Exposure Risks

We know that people are concerned right now about possible exposure to COVID-19 cases. Any time there are confirmed cases in Worcester County, we are working closely with the Maryland Department of Health investigating these cases. Communicable Disease nurses will identify contacts and advise them of any necessary actions to take. Close contacts identified by our staff as potentially being exposed to this person have been notified and given instructions. The Health Department will share information, as soon as possible, if any risk to the public is identified.

A “close contact” is when an individual has a near relationship with someone who has the virus, often family members or coworkers. The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
