Snow Hill, MD- The Worcester County Health Department (WCHD) is hosting a new walk challenge, Just Walktober throughout the month of October.
This walking challenge is inspired by the state of Maryland’s Walktober, which was declared officially by Governor Hogan in 2020. The month is intended to celebrate Maryland's official exercise - walking - as an important part of well-being for people throughout the state.
To participate in the Just Walktober Challenge, residents can follow the directions below:
- Sign up for the free self-directed Just Walk Program at www.Justwalkworcester.org (Enter “Walktober Challenge” in the Comment Box upon registration).
- Register for the Walktober Challenge through Eventbrite search “Walktober Challenge.” Or by scanning the QR code on the provided flier.
- Once registered you will receive a Walktober Challenge packet in the mail which will include a walk challenge calendar and reminder magnet!
- Begin the challenge! Be sure to get in your steps during the entire month of October and check off your walk challenge calendar daily. Follow the walk times as indicated on your walktober calendar and/or write-in your own movement minutes in the box provided each day.
- Self-report your steps/miles/walk minutes weekly by visiting www.justwalkworester.org or call us at 410-632-1100 ext. 1108.
At the end of October, participants can email their finished walk challenge calendars to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or mail them to 6040 Public Landing Rd. Snow Hill, MD 21863. Worcester health will calculate all steps, miles, or minutes reported by participants. Whoever gets in the most movement will win a fall wellness prize.
