Take a Deep Breath – You Can Quit Smoking!

Snow Hill, Md. (September 11, 2013) - The Worcester County Health Department is committed to helping smokers establish new behavior patterns that can lead to a tobacco free lifestyle and are encouraging smokers to join one of the FREE “Motivation to Quit” smoking cessation group classes.  Classes will be held from 5-6 p.m. on October 1 at the Berlin Health Center and on October 3 at the Pocomoke Health Center.  

Classes will be held at the following locations:
·         Berlin Health Center, 9730 Healthway Drive, Tuesdays from 5-6 pm, October 1- December 17, 2013.
·         Pocomoke Health Center, 400-A Walnut Street, Thursdays from 5-6 pm, October 3-December 19, 2013.
 
Professionally trained instructors will help participants create a supportive environment to break the smoking addiction. Each individual will develop a customized plan for quitting which may include learning how to change their behavior and identify triggers.  The smoking cessation course consists of 7 sessions covering topics such as stress management, weight control, assertive communication, how to develop a quit plan, relapse prevention and physical activity. 
 
   Vouchers are available if participants would like to add nicotine replacement therapy to their behavior change efforts.  Nicotine replacement therapies covered by the voucher program include the patch, gum and lozenges. Vouchers are also available to help offset the cost of CHANTIX for individuals meeting specific program requirements.
