Tri County Go Red Planning Committee Seeks Recipes for Cooking Demonstration

Snow Hill, Md. (December 20, 2013) - The Tri County Go Red Planning Committee will sponsor its’ 10th Annual Tri County Go Red Event on Wednesday, February 5th from 5:30-8:00 pm at the Avery Hall Educational Center located at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.  The purpose of the event is to educate women about heart disease, risk factors, and prevention.  This year’s event will feature a cooking demonstration by a registered dietitian.  

 
The Tri County Go Red Planning Committee is currently seeking dessert recipes for use in the cooking demonstration.  Women in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County are encouraged to submit their favorite dessert recipe.  Of the recipes submitted, one recipe will be randomly selected to be featured in the cooking demonstration.  The featured recipe, if high in fat or calories, will be modified to make in to a healthier version.   The author of the recipe will be invited to the Tri County Go Red Event and be formally recognized during the cooking demonstration.   The remaining recipes submitted will be included in a booklet that all participants will receive at the Go Red Event.  The booklet will include tips for heart healthy recipe modifications.
 
If you have a recipe that you would like to submit for the Tri County Go Red Recipe Challenge, please send a copy of the recipe, your name, address, and phone number to the Worcester County Health Department, 6040 Public Landing Road, Snow Hill, Maryland 21863, attn: Kathy Wool.
