Protect Your Memory: Worcester Health and the Alzheimer’s Association Host Brain Health Events

Snow Hill, MD– More than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's Disease, including 127,000 Maryland adults over the age of 65.

Additionally, 17.5% of Maryland residents over the age of 45 report subjective cognitive decline. The Worcester County Health Department and the Alzheimer's Association are hosting free Brain Health events in Pocomoke and Berlin this March. These events aim to educate participants on things they can do to  maintain brain health and reduce their risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in health screenings, including the AD-8. This brief questionnaire is designed to identify potential changes in memory, thinking, or daily activities. However, it does not diagnose dementia; instead, it serves as a screening tool for dementia. The events will also include a cooking demonstration and tasting, featuring the MIND diet—an eating plan recognized for its brain-protective benefits.

Event Schedule:

  • Healthy Body, Healthy Brain, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 11:30 a.m.-1:000 p.m., the Lower Shore Family Branch YMCA, 1900 Worcester Highway, Pocomoke City.

  • Healthy Heart, Healthy Brain, Thursday, March 12, 2026, 2:00-3:30 p.m., Gull Creek, 1 Meadow Street, Berlin.
