Worcester County Health Department Encourages Residents to Participate in Year-Long Physical Activity Challenge

Snow Hill, MD- Take your health into your own hands this new year by challenging yourself to get more physically active.

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health, as it improves brain health, reduces the risk of disease, and even strengthens bones. To help you reach your 2024 health and fitness goals, the Worcester County Health Department is hosting a year-long Just Walk Worcester Community Challenge. The Just Walk program member that achieves the most miles of physical activity between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024, will be crowned the Just Walk Worcester Champion 2024.

The Just Walk program has been sponsored by the Worcester County Health Department since the mid 1990’s. Just Walk is a free, self-directed, self-reported, physical activity program. Members report their miles or minutes of physical activity each month to earn various prizes.

To participate in the challenge, report your miles or minutes of physical activity each month during 2024. If you are a current member of the Just Walk program you are automatically enrolled in this year-long challenge. If you are not a member of the Just Walk program, you can sign-up at justwalkworcester.org or call the Worcester County Health Department at 410-632-1100, ext. 1110 and a Just Walk enrollment packet will be mailed to your home address. Once registered for the program, participate in whatever type of activity you enjoy, and  turn in your miles or minutes of movement each month. Physical activity can be reported through the Just Walk website or by calling 410-632-1100 ext. 1110.
