Snow Hill, MD – The Worcester County Health Department (WCHD) is excited to announce “What the health is going on?” a new podcast and way of sharing information with Worcester County residents. The show will feature guests from the health department as well as outside organizations and addresses current public health issues and questions. The first episode will go live Friday, June 12.
The podcast will be available on Buzzsprout, WorcesterHealth.org, and all @WorcesterHealth social media. We will explore topics such as COVID-19, influenza, physical fitness, suicide prevention, chronic health conditions, and environmental health.
“This podcast is a very useful form of public health communication. Our community members will be able to access the podcast any time they choose and use the information learned almost immediately,” said Rebecca Jones, Health Officer for the Worcester County Health Department.

On May 13th, Governor Larry Hogan announced the beginning of Stage One of the ‘Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery,’ which includes moving from a Stay at Home order to a Safer at Home public health advisory and the gradual reopenings of retail, manufacturing, houses of worship, and some personal services.
Worcester County has 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The most recent case is a male in his 40s. He is recovering at home. Worcester County Health Department continues to conduct contact investigations following Maryland Department of Health guidelines.
