Program Structure
The Prevention Services Unit includes health education and prevention programs that promote healthy lifestyle practices through a variety of prevention strategies and interventions designed to reduce the risks among individuals, families, and communities in Worcester County. This is an interdisciplinary team of health professionals including: nurses, health educators, outreach workers, exercise physiologist, nutritionist, public information officer, public affairs specialist, program coordinators, and parent educators
The Prevention Services Team encompasses programs addressing the following health areas: cancer screening, drug and alcohol prevention, tobacco control and cessation, chronic disease prevention focusing on diabetes, heart disease and other chronic health problems, parent education, combating underage and binge drinking, opioid misuse prevention, and HIV/AIDS prevention. Strategies include health promotion and education, trainings, after school programs, health screenings, worksite wellness, resource materials and community advocacy.
