Strengthening Families Program (SFP)

The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a free, evidence-based family program designed for families with children ages 7–17. The program helps strengthen family relationships, improve communication, build parenting skills, and support positive youth development. Families participate in engaging activities, discussions, and skill-building exercises together over the course of the program. Childcare will be available for children under 7 years of age, allowing parents and older children to fully participate in the sessions. Incentives, meals, and other family-friendly supports may also be provided throughout the program.

Parents and guardians can find ways to help improve their kids' behavior by:

  • Giving positive attention and rewards
  • Having clear conversations
  • Using effective discipline
  • Teaching them about substance use in ways they can understand
  • Helping them solve problems
  • Setting boundaries

At the same time, kids will pick up important skills like:

  • Communicating effectively
  • Understanding their feelings
  • Social and problem-solving skills
  • Standing up to peer pressure
  • Knowing the consequences of substance use for their age
  • Following house rules

Next class begins Sept. 22nd. REGISTER at our EVENTS page or CALL Gwen Taylor at: (410) 632-1100
