The Worcester County Health Department is located in Snow Hill, Maryland on the beautiful Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

 

Our mission is to promote health, well being, and a safe environment for all of our residents, as well as those who visit our resort areas each season.

We accomplish this by assessing the community's needs, developing appropriate policy to promote health and well being, and providing, or assuring the provision, of needed quality health services. We currently have approx. 275 employees with a variety of educational backgrounds who specialize in such areas as: Environmental Science, Nursing, Social Work, Prevention and Health Promotion, Chemical Dependency Services, Administrative Services, and Mental Health.

Office Services Clerk (Contractual)

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to maintain positive interactions with patients and families on the phone, in person and through other means of communication before, during and after the client visit while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. This position will also assure accurate, timely, and complete client data collection and will follow all clerical policies and procedures. In addition, this position may require some weekend and/or holiday hours. The filing deadline is 3/6/24

Coordinator Special Programs I, HS (Contractual)

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to provide community-based case management to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This position will assist eligible individuals and families in gaining access to resources in their community, planning for their future, provide education on transition services and waivers that could be available to them, as well as accessing needed services and supports. This position will also work with the individual and their identified team members to create the individual's person-centered plan. In addition, this position will work with the DDA regional office, local providers, staff and/or other community partners regularly. The filing deadline is 2/28/24

Mental Health Graduate Professional Counselor (Merit)

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide individual, group, and family counseling and coordinate therapies, services, and referrals through the mental health school based program in order to improve the functioning of the individual served. This position will work with a robust psychiatric treatment team with the Behavioral Health Unit and closely collaborate with the Board of Education. The filing deadline is 2/22/24

Social Worker II, Health Services

Social Worker II, Health Services is the full performance level of professional clinical social work providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health care setting. The nature of the work may require evening and weekend hours.  Work is performed in hospitals, residential facilities, clinics or local health units.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE II 

A Community Health Nurse II is the full performance level of direct nursing care to patients in various community settings and local health department clinics.  Employees in this classification do not supervise other nursing staff but may supervise support staff.
